Hard Working Boss is the sardonic, lo-fi pop project of Welsh-born Jim Sheppard, based in Paris. Known for his mix of irony-laden lyrics and infectious hooks, Sheppard first made waves with his debut album Bonjour Fucker (2013), a raw exploration of lo-fi pop laced with humor and unexpected twists. His follow-up, Revulva (2020), continued to expand his sound, bringing richer production and more catchy melodies without losing the DIY charm that defines his style.

Hard Working Boss is now poised to release Unfinished Songs, a single that will premiere on December 6, 2024, promising a fresh sound and marking the beginning of Hard Working Boss's next creative chapter.

Alongside producing his music, Jim also creates all his album art and music videos. Notable animations include The Hunger, a playful nod to classic 1980s ZX Spectrum games, and Jazzmag, a nostalgic homage to vintage porn magazines, humorously reflecting their shift to online media. Each video captures Jim's knack for blending past and present in his art.

"A Bowie on ecstasy? A Jim Morrison glam-rock style, as evidenced by this Light My Tinder pastiche of the Doors? A Lou Reed on an MD overdose? Jim Sheppard is a bit of all of that at once.." - Luc Magoutier
"His pop tunes, his clean and distinguished, but catchy melodies, are those to which we offer no resistance. We sing them with a smile on our lips, and we listen to them again and again"
- Will Dum
"Disheveled, poorly-risen, scruffy pop, well sung and nonchalantly wielding ritornellos that will be imprinted on your synapses"
- Florian Claude
"Hard Working Boss is revealed to be an artist with unstoppable pop songwriting who never fails to hit the mark with each of his tracks"
- Virginie Guichaoua
